Gemma & Brad Reminiscing their Spring Gold Coast Beach Wedding at An Island Hideaway

Reconnecting with our Brides and grooms is such a heartwarming feeling, we often wonder what happens to our couples years after marriage and we are so grateful that Gemma & Brad have shared their story.

Gemma and Brad got married to us at An Island Hideaway for a Gold Coast beach wedding over the spring season. Spring is the traditional season for weddings, and with good reason to have your Gold Coast weddings. They have experienced a stress-free wedding with a gorgeous option that brought a wow factor on their special day. We are so honoured that years later they have reconnected with us in sharing their love story.

Here is where it all began.

This lovely couple, Brad and Gemma, met at one of Brad’s gig – where he used to be the lead singer of the band called Super Turtle. Brad proposed to Gemma in the Garden’s of Miskin Manor in Wales after a family wedding. Brad proposed to Gemma with a ring designed by a local jeweller and that until now would burn a hole in Brad’s pocket every time they go through customs. The engagement ring is gold with a princess cut diamond and eight diamonds in the band. The proposal was done all in secret to surprise Gemma.

The wedding planning followed wherein the couple who were both from Victoria hired An Island Hideaway to take care of their wedding day. A friend who got here to South Stradbroke Island witnessed a Gold Coast Beach Wedding Venue who had shared the same idea with Gemma on how her wedding would look like, the groom arriving in a jet boat and the bride on a luxury yacht. They wanted a beachy concept with a touch of lace on their wedding day to make everyone feel the party and relaxed.

On their wedding day, Gemma can clearly recollect that as she walked down the aisle with her Dad – with her hair down in curls, wearing her Anna Campbell dress and veil made by her Mum, she saw the water twinkling at the beach where the wedding ceremony happened. Her dad stuck a 5 pence in her shoe for good luck, which was brought over from Welsh family. They had 5 bridesmaids beautifully dressed in their teal knee-length dress where she had Rosie, her sister as the maid of honour. Along with her beautiful bridesmaids are 4 handsome groomsmen in their suits whom they had Nathan as their best man as well as the chief wedding planner on the boys’ side. Their cute ring bearer is Gemma’s godson who also was on his adorable suit same as the groomsmen.

The wedding ceremony was celebrated by Gary Taylor. Gemma and Brad had a very simple yet intimate wedding ceremony wherein they wrote their heartfelt vows with a little bit of humour in it. The couple stayed true to their wedding promises wherein one of which is to buy a house by the beach and they just did a few weeks ago.

The wedding reception for Gemma and Brad preceded at An Island Hideaway’s garden where it was organised into a beach theme and the garden gave a tropical feel with fairy lights strung up inside and out. Gemma‘s Mum made her wedding cake topped with little bride and groom cats. The reception was entertained with the couple’s chosen local band and the highlight of it was the groom’s performance, Brad. He played a couple of songs and a few of which he sang and dedicated to his bride, Gemma were “Shimmer” and “All Of Me” by John Legend. The couple had jars of lollies with “Gem loves Brad” on them as their Bomboniere or favours.

The couple ended their wedding celebration with a week-long honeymoon stay at Hamilton Island then to Bali. Now, they are blessed to have two lovely and awesome children, their little boy Angus at 3 years old and Poppy who is turning almost 2 years old.
Gemma has now turned herself into a wedding celebrator on the side that gave her more appreciation for all that we do here in An Island Hideaway
